The Torch of Unity for the 2022 National Sports Festival has arrived in Imo State as it travels across the country.
Imo State Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma expressed confidence in the victory of Imo athletes at the Festival in Delta State while accepting the torch.
The Governor said that the federal government’s idea for the Torch of Unity’s cross-country journey is part of its post-Civil War effort to unite the country via sports.
He pledged that the State’s sportsmen and sportswomen will receive support from the Shared Prosperity administration at the festival.
Chioma Ajuwa, the first gold medalist from Nigeria and an Imo native, gave the torch to the governor.
