GOV. UZODIMMA PROMISES MORE SUPPORT IN THE STATE’S HEALTHCARE SECTOR

Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has pledged to increase government assistance for the state’s healthcare industry.

This pledge was given by Governor Uzodimma at the opening of the Nigerian Neurological Surgeons’ 12th annual conference in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.

In his speech, the governor praised the neurosurgeons for selecting Imo for their national conference as more evidence of Imo’s safety.
He also highlighted the Shared Prosperity Government’s numerous accomplishments in the healthcare sector, , including the ongoing reconstruction of 19 Secondary Healthcare Centers, the reconstruction of 305 Primary Healthcare Centers in the 305 election wards, the revival and accreditation of the teaching hospital in Orlu, which has graduated 400 medical doctors in three batches, and the revival of the Specialist Hospital Umuguma, where complex surgeries like neurologia are performed.

The Governor added that over 100 roads for easy access to hospitals in the State have been reconstructed.

Earlier, Dr. Prosper Ohayagha Success, the Commissioner for Health, thanked the Governor for his ministry’s cooperation.

It is noteworthy that Imo has been hosting several institutions, associations, and organisations as they chose the state to host their national conferences whilst being overseen by Senator Hope Uzodimma.

Present at the event were: the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase; the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Professor Placid Njoku; former INEC Chairman and Chairman of the Occasion, Professor Maurice Iwu, Professor Samuel Ohaegbulem, father of neurosurgery in Nigeria, Government appointees and a host of neurosurgeons, and medical practitioners.
