Certainly, it was an awesome gathering of virtuous women from the nooks and crannies of Imo State. They were adorned in colourful attires which aptly reflects the beauty of Ụmụ nwanyị ọma Imo. I salute our Women for their steadfastness in championing the cause for a better Imo State where peace and unity reside.
The Heroes Square, venue of the Grand Finale marking #2021ImoWomenAugustMeeting was agog with different women groups and formations from the 27 Local Governments of the State and Senatorial zones. The event witnessed march-past, food exhibitions, cultural dance competitions of all the zones.
My special gratitude goes to my husband, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for his continued unalloyed support which he shows by the physical presence he accords us each year. This, in no small measure, shows the priority he places on the affairs of Imo women.
May I seize this avenue to appreciate Imo Sons and daughters, groups, private and public organizations, who have identified with our various humanitarian interventions by donating charitably at the event. Through this, we are better equipped to sustain our empowerment efforts to the indigent women, the vulnerable groups and the ongoing war against rape and other sexual-based violence.
Furthermore, I mentioned that my office *has* begun an empowerment scheme for over 3000 indigent women across the State through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Vulnerable Group. The women will receive Sewing Machines, Motor Griding Machines, Standing Hair Dryers, Outdoor barbecue and grill equipment, others.
I urge our women to continue to be ambassadors and representatives of the 3R-agenda of the present administration in their various communities because it is believed that the women are the conscience of the households.
